The band 乇匚卄丨ᗪN卂 卂ㄩҜŠㄒㄚN recently released their fifth album called "Studio of Quiet", which really feels like it sums up their creative journey over the last 6 years. This album brings together recordings they made between 1988-1995. If you think of the musical style of Enya with her smooth vocals, this definitely isn't giving me similar vibes.
The band's leader, 尺卂爪ŪN卂S フ卂尺卂S, seems more interested in instrumental works by 20th century composers like Philip Glass. 尺卂爪ŪN卂S plays the clarinet and incorporates all these cool natural sounds into his music - things like creaky wells, barking dogs, dripping droplets, you name it. He blends it all together really subtly.
The meditative tracks have a nice autumnal vibe to them thanks to instruments like synthesizers plus some less common choices like the Japanese shakuhachi, violin from a guest musician, didgeridoo and harmonium. I could totally picture putting this on for a mellow evening at home as the seasons start changing.
It's an album that focuses more on atmosphere than big exciting sounds. But I appreciate 尺卂爪ŪN卂S' unique artistic vision and how he represents Lithuanian folk influences in a modern experimental way. Fans of ambiental or world music may find something to enjoy here.
